GATEWAY BLUE STAR MOTHERS MO4
Gateway Blue Star Mothers MO4 is a local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., dedicated to supporting our active duty troops, veterans, and military families. We provide a space for mothers to come together, share resources, and serve those who serve our country. Join us for our monthly meetings and become part of a community that understands the unique challenges and rewards of military life.
History of the Blue Star Mothers of America
On January 22, 1942 the Flint News Advertiser printed a coupon asking Mothers of serviceman to return the coupon after filling it out. The following February 1st 300 mothers met in the Durant Hotel, in Flint Michigan. Captain George H. Maines, who had conceived the idea for this group, acted as the chair of this first meeting. It was decided that after receiving 1000 responses from the ad to form a permanent organization.
On February 6th the organization was reported on Congressional record. Chapters then formed in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon, California, Iowa and Washington. In June of 1960 the organization was chartered by congress.

Gold Star Mothers
In military tradition, when a man or woman enters the Armed Forces of the United States of America, pledging to defend America with their life a Blue Star Banner may be displayed by their family. The Red border of the Banner represents the blood shed by past Warriors in defending our Nation. The field of White symbolizes the purity of Spirit – the price of Peace that only a Warrior understands. The Blue Star signifies loyalty, honor and duty entrusted in our Defenders. If Fate causes the death of a defender, a smaller Gold Star for Valor and Sacrifice is placed over the Blue Star. The border of Blue is a constant reminder the Warrior and family will always be remembered and honored by the brothers and sisters who lived to tell the tale. We, the Blue Star Mothers stand beside our children in this legacy.

Troop Care Packages. Monthly Membership meetings & fellowship. We support John Cochran VA & Jefferson Barracks VA through donations and volunteer hours. We support our Gold Star Sisters and families of Fallen Heroes, and POW/MIA.

female legal guardians who have
children serving in the military, guard or
reserves, or children who are veterans.
We support each other and our children
while promoting patriotism. Our
organization focuses on our mission
every single day and will never, ever,
forsake our troops, our veterans or the
families of our Fallen Heroes.
Membership Information
Eligibility is open to mothers of those currently serving or veterans. Membership dues are required annually to support our local chapter projects and national mission activities.
Members pay $30 annual membership dues
An individual is eligible for membership
in the corporation if-
1.She is a mother, step-mother, foster-
mother, grandmother, or legal guardian)
of a person who-
A. is Serving in the Armed Forces
B. has served in or has been
honorably discharged from, the Armed
Forces and
2. she is living in the United States or is a
citizen of the United States living outside
the United States
